SoCS, Six Minute Saturday Challenge ~ Loss

In response to Linda G Hill’s stream of consciousness prompt Pat/pet/pit/pot/put and
Kristi Simpson’s invitation to her Six Minute Saturday Challenge

She pats my arm in a comforting way
But it merely makes me feel like a pet.
Anger in the pit of my stomach mingles
With sorrow, both stirring like soup in a pot,
As they put the coffin down. He was just a cat.
But still; he was my cat.

The loss of a pet can be mournful indeed. Nice write. 🙂

I’ve never had one. I’m no good with animals. But I’ve got friends who told me of it. And it seemed dreadful…

For some they are surrogate children… unthinkable to lose one, and yet people go into ownership knowing that they’ll probably outlive them. I haven’t had anything but birds and fish for a very long time. Tempting though to get a dog or cat… or snake. 😛
