James ~ Hell Hath No Fury

James was never seen again after setting off down the rutted, puddled road.
The police looked everywhere; everyone who had come in contact with James became a person of interest until they all were left alone.

Mrs. Finch was particularly peeved when they questioned her daughter for an hour. Lucy was fragile. But according to witnesses, she was the last to see James that day. It was true. Lucy flinched throughout the interview but answered willingly. They let her go. Teary-eyed she hugged the cute puppy her mother gave her, as she came out.

She seemed to find comfort in his presence. And it was obvious she loved him very much. Such a simple girl couldn’t have hurt James. And yet.

James shouldn’t have scorned a witch’s gift of love.
