Useless Resolution

She’d been nursing her drink for a while observing her surroundings; the darkness made it possible for her to see without being seen. There were many people here: young women, flushed with newly found desire, young men filled with lust. It was interesting to look at: merely from a scientific point of view. She was too old to be excited in the same way they were but studying young people in such a setting was always… enlightening.

She was tempted of course, who wouldn’t be? She may be old – she wasn’t so vain as to think she wasn’t – but that didn’t mean she was immune to desire and lust. Well really someone her age should be looking for love: she wasn’t naive. But love was in the past: she’d known it and lost it. It was a gift and she wasted it; she knew that. She had no illusion: it was her fault. She’d squandered love. And now she was like one of these… cougars. Well in many ways she was a hunter, like the wild cat.

So much youth, so much beauty. Young blood, coursing through these kids’ veins, pumping with every heart beat from one end of their body to the other. Who wouldn’t be tempted? But she’d decided to behave this year. Mind you, she’d decided to behave the year before too; and she had lasted less than a day. She’d done better already. But being here wasn’t the best idea.

She might say it was for scientific purposes: it was. The experiment was to see if she could spend a night at party and leave alone. The postulate… well she was old; experience told her she couldn’t. But the postulate was that she could. Only with all that sweat surrounding her, the pheromones being released into the air by all these young people… She licked her lips.

“Can I offer you a drink Ms.?”
The young man who sat beside her was on the hunt himself. Not the same sort as she was. And suddenly… holding onto this resolution didn’t seem so important anymore.
“I’m sure you could… But I’m looking for another kind of drink.”
He understood right away, a grin spread on his youthful face. How naive! What chance did he have against a succubus? She sighed, as she took his hand. Useless resolution… One couldn’t deny their nature.

  1. Love the sexual tension, the inner thoughts, the sensual language. A very good resolution to break — I agree with her decision. Her sexuality isn’t old, nor is her attraction. Sigh from me.
Thanks for participating — great resolution story!

    1. Thank you. I think the resolution + tempted prompts just brought me on that path hihi although I did try for it not to be overly sexual 😉.
Thank you for another inspiring prompt 🙏🏻 and for your comment.

    1. She was a discovery. Desire is such a fascinating emotion/process. Complex and layered with so many other things… Besides desire can be a powerful incentive to do or stop doing things.

  4. Cool story! I was expecting her to be an alien. The succubus was a great twist!

    1. Thanks… I didn’t even consider alien to be honest. The succubus surprised me too I was expecting vampire or something 😜.
